Local stars on board TAP

In line with the company’s strategy of promoting the best of Portugal around the world, TAP’s new onboard executive class menus will welcome the input of top Portuguese chefs, such as Henrique Sá Pessoa, Cláudio Pontes, Noélia Jerónimo, Júlio Pereira, Diogo Rocha and Óscar Geadas.
The TAP Local Stars project, in partnership with The Art of Tasting Portugal, aims to introduce the world to the best of Portuguese gastronomy. But that’s not all. It also intends to give passengers the opportunity to taste the star products of each of our regions.
Over the next two years, on long-haul flights with the national airline, you will be able to taste the best of Portuguese gastronomy when flying executive class. How? It’s simple. The journey begins in a particular region, represented by a local product, which will shine in the hands of a renowned local chef. Every two months, the chef, the menu, the product and the region are changed, so as to travel throughout Portugal, while respecting the seasonality of the ingredients.
The project kicked off in March and it is in the capital that the adventure begins, with grouper fish as the star product and Henrique Sá Pessoa as the master chef. Two months later, Local Stars will travel to the Azorean island of São Jorge, in May and June, where chef Claúdio Pontes will showcase the potential of São Jorge cheese. These two chefs will be followed by ten more, whose star ingredients and respective regions you can discover until the end of 2024.
"TAP thus continues to make a decisive contribution to the growth of the Portuguese economy, to increasing tourism revenues, to keep Portugal connected to the world. And to make the world aware of the best that we have and do,” an official TAP source concludes.
