Lexus LC 500

Absolute beauty

As the autumn leaves fell on the last year, a blanket of colours in browns, reds and yellows painted the ground. A cool breeze could be felt from the top of the Douro valleys as we watched the filming and test drive of the Lexus LC 500, for another magical ‘amazing story’ of the brand. The images take us on a journey, as does the new Lexus model, amazing us with the perfect shape of its design and more besides. This is one of the most iconic models of the brand - the LC 500 Cabrio. Marked by its powerful front grille, which extends across the front of the car; the glass panel and darkened rear pillars, which give the feeling of a floating roof; the chrome trim and curved lines; and the rear headlights, the distinctive design of which was inspired by the afterburners of a jet. Of course, for anyone who might have the opportunity to test drive this car, as Dirk Niepoort and Nina Gruntkowski did, the result can only be one: stunning and irresistible.

Here we share stories. And the brand’s ‘amazing stories’ have told many of those narratives that are usually left behind the lens. Photographs were taken. Filming took place. And the car was tested. And amidst the surrounding nature, we shared stories and made our own piece of history. We captured moments, with the elegant Lexus LC 500 revealing itself as the prince of the day. With harmonious and daring lines, this model provides a singular driving experience. We got to know the wine culture and got excited about the strong connection between the car, which is a force of nature, and the man who fell in love with the essence of the vine, Dirk, accompanied by Nina, also an inspiration – she was the first person to bring the traditional Japanese tea culture to Portugal and the first producer to grow camellia tea leaves in Europe. Just as her work is meticulous, the manufacturing process of the LC 500 has also been undertaken with the utmost attention and dedication, starting with the design and details of the interior. A perfect combination. To bear witness to this, the beauty of the Douro, of the LC 500 and of the inspiring couple were recorded on film.

The LC 500’s V8 engine, powering in at 464 DIN hp/351 kW, can take the car from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4.7 seconds

Along the curves of the roads, an evolution of the luxury motoring was showcased. And this is how the new Lexus model was revealed. With suspension calibrated for smoother performance, dampers adjusted and a stiffer rear anti-roll bar, Active Cornering Assist (ACA) has also been introduced and improvements to the 10-speed automatic transmission were made to enhance day-to-day driving. But it doesn’t stop there. The LC 500 is equipped with the LC 500h’s Multi Stage Hybrid system, which allows you to downshift to second, rather than third, to allow smoother operation and more robust acceleration through sharp bends. New interior colours, such as Flaming Red leather and Manhattan Orange, and exterior colours have also been introduced, the latter including Blazing Carnelian and Terrane Khaki hues, in addition to the usual F White, Dark Grey, Sonic Silver, Sonic Titanium, Solid Black, Radiant Red, Flaming Yellow and Deep Blue. And we still haven’t mentioned the 20-inch forged alloy wheels, or the upgraded multimedia system with smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto®, because, in addition to all this, the driving experience just was made even more appealing, thanks to the steering wheel with a cross-section, which differs in shape around its circumference, allowing for variations in grip. Right from ignition, the LC 500’s V8 engine, powering in at 464 DIN hp/351 kW, can take the car from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4.7 seconds.
That said, there’s not much more to add. Just, put your foot down!
