Mota Apartment

The art of integrating spaces

The Mota apartment project, located in São Paulo, Brazil, was commissioned to FCStudio by a businessman who had bought the property from a family with young children. Thus, due to the great difference in needs and lifestyles, walls were removed and some of the spaces were integrated. For example, whereas before the dining room was on the balcony, the kitchen was enclosed and the social area was small, the project increased the social area by removing a bedroom and the toilet. The social area was also integrated into the kitchen and the balcony was freed up for convivial living.
Besides the architecture, five design pieces were also created for the apartment: the Órbita dining table, the Rod side table, the Brasília coffee table, the Campo coffee table and the Gap bench. All of them took the proportions and materials of the interior project into consideration, varying between marble, wood and steel. In addition to the furniture pieces, a sculpture called Leku was also designed and displayed on the entry hall shelf. The choice of materials took into account the region in which the project is located.
