Casa Janeira

Swapping the city for the countryside

Casa Janeira is a renovation project of the upper floor in a 1940s building, located in Avelal, in the municipality of Sátão, in Portugal’s interior. The project, by COVO INTERIORES, came about from the need to house a young man who decided to swap the city for this small village and continue the family business that has been founded here three generations ago. In contrast to the existing project, which was characterised by several small rooms, the new concept involved creating a large and minimalist space, taking advantage of its best qualities: the sun exposure/natural light and its relationship with the veranda windows and surrounding views.
