Ghidini

Innovative design and technologies

This is a journey lasting almost a hundred years. A success story that began in 1929, in Villa Carcina, in the province of Brescia, Italy. The first founder was a skilled craftsman, capable of developing new products, and a meticulous researcher of innovative technological and construction solutions for the period. From the very beginning, Ghidini has constantly developed this particular characteristic, through its permanent research laboratory: the Ufficio Esperienze Ghidini, dedicated to the development of new products and the definition of the most appropriate production technologies.
Ghidini is synonymous with excellence in the art of die casting brass, aluminium and zamak (a generic name for various metal alloys containing zinc, aluminium, magnesium and copper), while standing out for combining advanced technologies and prototypes with traditional craftsmanship techniques. In 1950, with the founder’s children joining the business, new production units were created, while even more advanced technologies were developed, leading to greater production variety all under the Ghidini brand. Since the 1980s, the attention to the project has evolved through a constant relationship with qualified and respected designers from outside the company, allowing the company to grow with new research stimuli.

The entire production cycle takes place in-house and is characterised by meticulous attention to detail.

The entire production cycle takes place in-house and is characterised by meticulous attention to detail, from the idea to the end product, via various processing stages: from pressure die casting to lost wax and gravity casting; from machining to drilling; from satin finishing to sand blasting and polishing. These are the solid foundations of GHIDINI 1961, a new design brand created in 2016 under the art direction of Stefano Giovannoni, who has put together a diversified creative team capable of enhancing the properties of brass, a material hitherto unjustly disregarded by contemporary design. Aware of the corporate potential, the creative team has developed a remarkable collection of furniture pieces and accessories for everyday use, characterised by innovative design, smoothed by classical and playful shades, consistent with the nature of brass. In this way, brass makes its debut in contemporary design, with ennobled rigour. The collection comprises works of art, in which brass takes on an almost sculptural power, finely chiselled table accessories, bearing witness to Ghidini’s obsession for details.
The products range from tiny rings to furniture complements, illuminated consoles, lamps, including almost all household items, which are interpreted in an unusual and cheerful way. The collection is a compendium of the most significant contemporary creative expressions, interpreted and enhanced by Ghidini’s skills and by its ability to interpret metals in all possible forms. The new pink gold finish is a re-reading of the collection and gives brass objects a contemporary touch. But at Ghidini there is a whole new world to discover...
