AS PORTUGUESAS

100% sustainable product

Made entirely in Portugal, it couldn’t have any other name. AS PORTUGUESAS started, in 2014, with producing nothing but slippers. Then shoes and boots followed. The start-up enjoyed investment from the world’s largest cork processing group, the Amorim Group. And, in 2018, it also joined by the footwear production experience of the Fortunato Frederico. The brand’s concept is based on ecology. It is a 100% sustainable product, which uses materials such as coffee beans, cotton and wool. But, for the most part, it has cork. The soles are made from the leftovers resulting from cork stopper production. The secret lies in the bark of the cork oaks that grow somewhere between Trás-os-Montes, the Ribatejo and the Alentejo. At the end, the cork is mixed with natural rubber in a factory in Paredes de Coura.
