High on the northern slope of Potrero Hill, in San Francisco, California, a building that allows an abundance of natural light and superb views over the city and the bay has been designed by Terry & Terry Architecture. The site is a narrow plot, typical of the area. The design concept alone is unique. The living room floorplan floats above the ground floor entrance level, with glass volumes flowing outwards and around the main concrete column. The communal spaces, including the kitchen and dining room, extend onto the rear west-facing deck, connecting them to the garden via an external staircase.
