UNESCO accepts candidacy to be a creative city of design

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has accepted Covilhã’s application to be classified as a Creative City of Design, and the process will thus move on to the next phase. The textile history of the municipality, the sustainable and inclusive design and the creative future support the proposal that is being coordinated by Rui Miguel, president of the Department of Textile Science and Technology of the University of Beira Interior. It is worth mentioning that the UNESCO National Commission selected this application as one of the two Portuguese applications that will go on to the next phase.
