A Portuguese man wants to cycle the length of Africa on an electric bike

Daniel hopes to be the first to make the journey

Travelling the African continent, from one end to the other, is the goal of Daniel Rodrigues, the Portuguese photojournalist who hopes to be the first to make the journey by bicycle. The challenge was already considerable, but he has taken it to the next level by deciding to do it on an electric bike. The route from Cairo to Cape Town is 14,000 kilometres, which Daniel estimates will take more than half a year. He will pass through twelve countries, all to do justice to the sustainability of the planet and to promote actions against climate change. Although the route is famous, no other cyclist has ever crossed the continent on an electric bike, which has required many months of planning and preparation on Daniel’s part.
