Timber Bridge in Gulou Waterfront

A union between times

Hundreds of wooden elements are bolted together to form the timber bridge in Gulou Waterfront, the latest project by Chinese architecture firm LUO Studio. The 25-metre-long bridge is located in Gulou, a water village in Jiangmen, China. The unusual manmade landscape, formed by a network of waterways and ponds, previously provided infrastructure for fishing and farming. As part of the rural regeneration of the area, this wooden bridge aims to link the cultural heritage of these local communities with rural development. The aim was to create an eco-tourism resort that would maintain the distinctive spatial fabrics of hills and ponds, embracing nature education, fun between parents and children and fishing and farming activities.
