French fashion house CELINE now has a new space – La Manufacture –, the factory, in the true sense of the word, where the LVMH group’s luxury leather goods will now be produced. It is located in the heart of Chianti, in Tuscany, Italy, and the project was designed by MetroOffice Architetti. The aim was to create a new manufacturing facility capable of accommodating the 250 recently-hired local artisans and the challenge was taken up very creatively, giving rise to a building that is a factory, but which exudes beauty, not out of keeping with the bucolic feel of the Tuscan hills. The rigorous and elegant volumes of the factory respect the topography of the site and the abundance of windows provides a unique working experience, with the countryside as a backdrop and light pouring in abundantly to inspire those who work there.
